Another commenter asked (without an answer as of yet) whether he's running software for the FIU under OS X or whether it's strictly under his Windows usage. What would be cool, though, would be to know what kind of software configuration he's gotten hooked up to this puppy. Unfortunately, the blog post is almost entirely made up of photographs (which are, of course, very nice to look at), but a lot of people want more details, which edhac says in the comments will be coming sometime soon. In addition to the above, he also had to solder the FIU unit to the DC-IN board on his MacBook Pro. The only one in the world to do this I guess I have yet to see anyone else do it.įirst of all THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!!!! Don't try this at home. Using a dremmel, 2.16 Ghz MacBook Pro, a Sony Puppy FIU-600 and some skill I just put a finger print scanner in my MacBook Pro.

Just having a macbook wasn't enough for me sooo. He cut a hole in the top casing of his MacBook Pro with a dremel and installed a Sony Fingerprint Identification Unit (FIU) into it. A very adventurous Blogspot user going by "edhac" has done something that might cause many Mac laptop users to cry in their sleep (but secretly wish they had the balls to do) to his brand new MacBook Pro.
